Machinist

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work preparation
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and precision instruments
• Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools for precision operations
• Machine parts to exact specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
• Study blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine repair methods and sequences
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to ensure conformance to specifications
• Monitor machine feed and speed and diagnose malfunctions or the need for repairs
• Maintain equipment by cleaning and lubricating machines and tools

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Extensive knowledge of methods for repairing, installing, and maintaining aircraft components
• Skilled in performing repairs and modifications on aircraft articles
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and safety rules

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of aviation tooling development
