Machinist-CNC/Manual

Responsibilities

• Support the Rotor and Machine shop by operating large CNC and manual lathes, VTLs, and mills to meet tight tolerances for energy equipment components.
• Align large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
• Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines.
• Read and interpret OEM drawings, blueprints, sketches, manuals, and work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Calculate and set machine controls to regulate speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories.
• Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls as required.
• Support a strong safety culture and drive a "safe to start" mindset.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related machining experience.
• Proficiency in operating both CNC and manual machines (lathes, mills, VTLs).
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong basic algebra and geometry skills for machining calculations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10s, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7).
• Expertise in machining steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, and aero components.
