Machinist

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts
• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders
• Regulate machining factors including speeds, feeds, coolant flow, and depth of cut
• Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications and perform trial runs to ensure accuracy
• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist in training other machinists

Requirements

• 3+ years of prior machinist experience or relevant machinist education
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
• Proficient mathematical ability for calculating material needs and dimensions
• Solid understanding of speeds and feeds for various machining operations and cutting tools
• Ability to use material handling equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, or jib cranes
• Ability to maintain strict tolerances and work in a manufacturing shop environment
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
