Machine Vision Engineer

Responsibilities

• Integrate and develop automated inspection, measurement, and machine vision systems to support 3M manufacturing operations.
• Design, develop, and implement custom machine vision solutions based on internal customer requirements.
• Perform strategic planning for machine vision technology to meet future automation needs.
• Conduct technology development for custom applications, focusing on opto-mechanical systems and automation.
• Provide Tier 2 technical support for installed infrastructure, including potential on-call duties.
• Collaborate with global teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (completed and verified prior to start).
• Two years of professional machine vision experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Five years of professional experience implementing machine vision for automation solutions.
• Experience with Cognex or Zebra machine vision platforms.
• Expertise in image processing, signal processing, optics, software, or electronics.
• Experience integrating machine vision with robotic or automated manufacturing operations.
• Strong project management, strategy development, and interpersonal communication skills.
