About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various types of machinery
  • Set up machines for production runs to ensure maximum efficiency and precision
  • Operate turning, vertical, and horizontal machining centers, as well as Swiss-style lathes
  • Monitor machinery during operation to detect malfunctions or performance deviations
  • Perform regular quality checks on components to ensure they meet engineering specifications
  • Lead, train, and mentor less experienced machinists and operators

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience (Journeyman level) with CNC multi-axis Swiss turning machines
  • Proven ability to program, set up, and operate vertical and horizontal machining centers (3-4 axes)
  • Ability to determine tooling and operate Swiss Style/Star lathes unassisted
  • Fluency in G&M code and experience with Fanuc Controls
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Proficiency in using appropriate measuring tools and selecting cutting tools
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours per shift and lift up to 40 pounds regularly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gibbs Cam programming experience
  • CAD experience (Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • PLC knowledge
  • Experience with continuous improvement or lean methodologies
  • Technical College or trade school education
