About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various types of machinery
- Set up machines for production runs to ensure maximum efficiency and precision
- Operate turning, vertical, and horizontal machining centers, as well as Swiss-style lathes
- Monitor machinery during operation to detect malfunctions or performance deviations
- Perform regular quality checks on components to ensure they meet engineering specifications
- Lead, train, and mentor less experienced machinists and operators
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience (Journeyman level) with CNC multi-axis Swiss turning machines
- Proven ability to program, set up, and operate vertical and horizontal machining centers (3-4 axes)
- Ability to determine tooling and operate Swiss Style/Star lathes unassisted
- Fluency in G&M code and experience with Fanuc Controls
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
- Proficiency in using appropriate measuring tools and selecting cutting tools
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours per shift and lift up to 40 pounds regularly
Preferred Qualifications
- Gibbs Cam programming experience
- CAD experience (Solidworks, AutoCAD)
- PLC knowledge
- Experience with continuous improvement or lean methodologies
- Technical College or trade school education
