Machine Learning Scientist

Responsibilities

• Research and implement architectural improvements to large-scale multimodal transformer models for biomedical applications
• Investigate hybrid modeling approaches combining learned representations with domain-informed structure
• Optimize training pipelines for efficiency and scalability across many-GPU clusters
• Develop and apply inference optimization techniques for interactive discovery workflows
• Design and maintain benchmarking and evaluation frameworks
• Collaborate with ML, software engineering, and drug discovery teams to deploy models
• Write high-quality research and engineering code including testing and documentation
• Mentor interns and junior team members (depending on level)

Requirements

• MS in ML/CS or computational STEM field with relevant experience, or PhD
• Strong Python and PyTorch experience
• Demonstrated experience training transformer models at scale
• Strong engineering habits including reproducible experimentation and clean code
• Proficiency with modern ML infrastructure such as Docker, CUDA, Kubernetes, and Weights & Biases

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multimodal or multi-task model architectures
• Training and inference optimization expertise (mixed precision, quantization, distributed strategies)
• Familiarity with biomedical, chemical, or biological data domains
• Experience with HPC or large-scale training operations
