Machine Learning Manager, Operations

Responsibilities

• Shape the ML strategy for Workforce Management, identifying high-impact areas for forecasting and optimisation.
• Lead the design, build, and delivery of production ML systems for routing, assignment, and demand forecasting.
• Stay close to technical details by framing problems, choosing modelling approaches, and reviewing technical trade-offs.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations leaders to turn ambiguous problems into iterative ML systems.
• Coach and develop Machine Learning Scientists through regular 1:1s, technical guidance, and feedback.
• Establish healthy team standards for documentation, monitoring, and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Recent experience as a hands-on Machine Learning practitioner (e.g., Senior IC, Tech Lead, or ML Manager).
• Strong foundations in ML, statistics, forecasting, optimisation, or operations research.
• Proven track record of building, shipping, and owning ML systems in a production environment.
• Ability to communicate complex ML concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience or a strong desire to coach and develop other technical professionals.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous problem spaces and apply quantitative thinking to real-world challenges.
