Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning algorithms, focusing on reinforcement learning (RL) and imitation learning (IL)
• Translate high-level objectives into machine learning problems and deploy robust, scalable models to real-world robotic systems
• Integrate ML solutions into existing robotics workflows for both simulated and real-world settings
• Drive innovation by incorporating the latest research into practical robotic manipulation applications
• Take ownership of critical ML projects from conception to deployment
• Collaborate across disciplines and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements

• MS or PhD in machine learning, computer science, robotics, or a related field
• Strong practical experience training and deploying ML models for real-world applications
• Deep understanding of reinforcement learning (RL) and imitation learning (IL)
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
• Experience with data collection, preprocessing, and management for ML training
• Self-starter attitude with ability to prioritize and execute solutions in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with robotic simulation environments like Gazebo or MuJoCo
• Experience in sim-to-real transfer
• Experience designing reward functions for complex manipulation tasks
• Experience deploying ML models to edge devices for real-time inference
• Experience accelerating ML training using GPU or TPU hardware
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning frameworks such as Stable Baselines or RLlib
• General knowledge of robotics principles including kinematics, dynamics, and control
• Publications or contributions to the machine learning community
