Machine Learning Engineer

MAI is on a mission to democratize advanced advertising technology. Founded by ad platform veterans from Google and Instacart, the company uses AI agents to automate and optimize performance marketing for small and mid-sized businesses. Having raised a $25 million Seed round led by Kleiner Perkins, MAI is building the infrastructure for autonomous, intelligent agents.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core agentic platform to orchestrate complex workflows and enable long-term memory
• Architect foundational data and signal platforms using modern lakehouse architecture
• Build robust pipelines and ML serving systems for real-time decision making
• Develop "tool machines" that allow agents to execute code in secure sandboxes and call third-party APIs
• Build customer-facing applications and scalable serving infrastructure
• Collaborate with data scientists to build MLOps infrastructure for training and fine-tuning reasoning models

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, OR Bachelor's with 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience with MLOps infrastructure like MLflow or Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models, agentic frameworks (e.g., LangGraph), or RAG systems
• Systems-level thinking and ability to design for scalability and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Data Engineering (ETL/streaming pipelines)
• Experience with Spark, Airflow, or dbt
• Experience building on a lakehouse architecture
