Gigaton is on a mission to cut gigatonnes of carbon emissions from the world’s biggest emitting industries by building autonomous AI control and optimisation systems that leverage the physics of manufacturing. We are a team of scientists, engineers, and builders focused on delivering real-world cost and carbon impact in heavy industrial plants.

Responsibilities

• Work as an individual contributor building, testing, and deploying machine learning models
• Contribute to technical innovation across the machine learning lifecycle
• Collaborate with the product team on customer projects and wider product development
• Help establish best practices and improve internal processes
• Design and implement robust, maintainable, and scalable machine learning systems
• Build tooling to support a fear-free development process

Requirements

• 2 or more years of experience as a machine learning engineer
• Proficiency in Python and the ML ecosystem (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch)
• Theoretical ML knowledge and experience implementing various solutions
• Experience working in a scientific environment (physics, chemistry, materials science, or engineering)
• Passion for climate change mitigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with time-series modelling and industrial or IoT data
• Knowledge of dynamical systems, reinforcement learning, system identification, optimisation, or Bayesian statistics
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment using agile processes
• Degree in machine learning, physics, or chemistry
• Understanding of modern cloud compute infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
