Machine Learning Engineer - Fraud

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models for fraud detection use cases across PayJoy’s product suite.
• Collaborate with global Fraud, Engineering, Product, and Risk teams to deliver data science products to international markets.
• Ensure ML models are production-ready, optimized for scale, and continuously improved based on performance.
• Improve infrastructure for fraud decisioning by extending it to new entity types and supporting greater scale.
• Handle large, complex datasets to clean, preprocess, and extract relevant features.
• Write production-level code including documentation, testing, and peer reviews.
• Work with the ML Platform team to implement scalable feature generation and model monitoring processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, ML Engineer, or Data Engineer with a track record of maintaining models in production.
• High proficiency in Python and libraries such as Scikit-Learn and Pandas.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the ML lifecycle, from feature engineering to model serving and monitoring.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud providers (AWS preferred) and containerization (e.g., Docker).
• Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fraud detection or machine learning applications within the financial market.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) or graph databases.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks for developing and monitoring ML workflows at scale.
