Machine Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform short-duration project tasks with clearly defined requirements and goals under the guidance of senior engineers
• Analyze and evaluate results of engineering analyses using prescribed techniques
• Prepare technical calculations, presentations, and reports
• Support interface development with structural, mechanical process, controls, and aerodynamics disciplines
• Assist in the production of detailed drawing packages through CAD work and design input

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) from an accredited engineering school
• Strong academic foundation in Statics & Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Dynamics, and Thermodynamics
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software
• Strong mechanical intuition and a sense of ownership over work execution

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Mechanical Engineering internships or co-ops in machine design or adjacent industries
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as Inventor or Solidworks
• Experience with FEA software including Ansys, NASTRAN, or Inventor
• Hands-on experience with machining and fabrication (milling, turning, welding, etc.)
• Familiarity with machine instrumentation such as proximity sensors, strain gauges, or scales
• Knowledge of common machine elements like gears, bearings, belts, and motors
