Machine Controls Technician II

Responsibilities

• Perform technical start-up, troubleshooting, and repair of electro-mechanical systems and CNC machine tools.
• Independently analyze machine malfunctions and resolve problems in machine tool system operation and performance.
• Troubleshoot, test, tune, and adjust machine tool elements to obtain optimum performance with Fanuc and Siemens-based control systems.
• Diagnose machine tool problems remotely utilizing Gleason Connect technology.
• Document qualification steps, findings, and repairs implemented.
• Provide formal classroom and shop floor electrical maintenance training to customers.
• Mentor and provide guidance to Level I Machine Control Technicians.
• Coordinate work tasks with internal project management during field installation and service projects.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree (A.S.) in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical engineering/technology, or 5 years of equivalent experience in machine tool troubleshooting and repair.
• Detailed working knowledge of blueprint and schematic reading for hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proven experience with High Voltage safety practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair CNC drives, amplifiers, servomotors, PLCs, I/O configurations, and rotary encoders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience using SAP quality system tools to report machine issues.
• Ability to use electronic test equipment such as voltmeters and gages to identify root causes.
