Lower School Chinese Teacher

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high-quality, engaging, and developmentally appropriate Chinese language instruction for grades 1-5
• Differentiate instruction to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of all individual students
• Assess student progress, complete reports, and communicate regularly with parents through conferences
• Work collaboratively with the World Language Department and grade-level colleagues to align curriculum
• Participate in school life beyond the classroom, including committee work, school events, and assigned duties such as dismissal or recess coverage
• Assist in school Admissions efforts as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Proficiency in standard Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written), including simplified characters and pinyin
• Fluency in English with effective oral and written communication skills
• Experience in language instruction, preferably with students in grades K-9
• Training in modern language pedagogy and best practices
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and use assessments to guide learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Chinese and/or Education
• Native or heritage speaker status
• Experience with project-based and hands-on learning models
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting
