Low Voltage Electrical Tradesperson

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, maintain, install, modify, and repair Low Voltage Electrical Building Systems
• Troubleshoot complex electrical systems during standard and non-standard hours
• Conduct periodic testing of systems and maintain records using a computerized database
• Apply industry standard safety practices, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and electrical test equipment
• Diagnose and correct malfunctions in electrical transmission and distribution systems
• Operate specialized equipment such as bucket trucks and digger-derrick pole trucks
• Perform switching procedures, high voltage testing, and cable splicing/termination techniques
• Collaborate with engineers to evaluate and coordinate utility spotting activities

Requirements

• Experience with Low Voltage Electrical Distribution systems
• Proficiency in using electrical test equipment (e.g., digital multi-meters, insulation resistance testers, circuit tracers)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
• Ability to obtain mobile crane certification
• Experience troubleshooting complex electrical, electronic, and electromechanical circuits

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a 4-year State approved electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience as a fully qualified Electrical Tradesperson with journeyman's license eligibility
• Active Department of Energy "L" or "Q" clearance
• Knowledge of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) systems
• Experience with thermographic scanning and infrared thermography
