About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, maintain, install, modify, and repair Low Voltage Electrical Building Systems
- Troubleshoot complex electrical systems during standard and non-standard hours
- Conduct periodic testing of systems and maintain records using a computerized database
- Apply industry standard safety practices, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and electrical test equipment
- Diagnose and correct malfunctions in electrical transmission and distribution systems
- Operate specialized equipment such as bucket trucks and digger-derrick pole trucks
- Perform switching procedures, high voltage testing, and cable splicing/termination techniques
- Collaborate with engineers to evaluate and coordinate utility spotting activities
Requirements
- Experience with Low Voltage Electrical Distribution systems
- Proficiency in using electrical test equipment (e.g., digital multi-meters, insulation resistance testers, circuit tracers)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
- Ability to obtain mobile crane certification
- Experience troubleshooting complex electrical, electronic, and electromechanical circuits
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a 4-year State approved electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience as a fully qualified Electrical Tradesperson with journeyman's license eligibility
- Active Department of Energy "L" or "Q" clearance
- Knowledge of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) systems
- Experience with thermographic scanning and infrared thermography
