About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage administrative infrastructure, technical and scientific staff, and research facilities to support diverse research projects.
  • Oversee budget preparation, resource allocation, and strategic planning in coordination with the Office of Research and Economic Development.
  • Serve as the principal ambassador and advocate for the facility's scientific vision at university, national, and international levels.
  • Lead efforts to secure funding and coordinate research projects with federal agencies, state agencies, and industry partners.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary research between the synchrotron facility and various university colleges, departments, and external research entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in synchrotron science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in science and/or engineering research.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large organizations, research centers, or major initiatives.
  • Proven success in securing and managing large-scale grants and contracts.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
