Loss Recovery Specialist (Collections)

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and leadership in all phases of recovery, including bankruptcy and litigation proceedings for secured accounts
• Manage collection efforts and strategies relating to charged-off deficiency balances to minimize portfolio losses
• Negotiate settlement offers with customers or outside counsel and coordinate the settlement process
• Independently manage complex bankruptcy matters, including motions, proofs of claim, and recovery strategies
• Manage relationships with recovery law firms, including fee arrangements and performance scorecards
• Ensure timely completion of judgment renewals and maintain PPSA filings and security perfection instruments
• Provide analysis and performance recommendations to business leaders regarding recovery and loss trends
• Assist with the remarketing, listing, and sale of repossessed vehicles

Requirements

• BS/BA in finance, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent financial services experience)
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Loss Recovery Litigation and/or Bankruptcy
• Working knowledge of the Personal Property Security Act (PPSA) and provincial/federal collection laws
• Understanding of insolvency proceedings, repossessions, and the disposition of collateral
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in heavy truck or equipment financing
• Bilingual verbal and written skills in French
