Lorikeet Keeper

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and well-being for the lorikeet flock through feeding and cleaning
• Maintain indoor and outdoor habitats, yards, pools, and night enclosures
• Monitor animal behavior, diet consumption, and general health
• Participate in breeding management and hand-rearing of neonates
• Perform light exhibit construction and routine maintenance of enclosures
• Educate and connect with guests through informal keeper talks and interactions
• Assist veterinary staff with animal treatments and medication administration
• Operate zoo vehicles and light/medium equipment

Requirements

• BS or AS in zoology, animal biology, animal husbandry, or a related field
• At least one year of work experience at a zoological facility or equivalent training
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 75 lbs with assistance
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and early mornings

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with psittacine species
• Experience with neonate hand-rearing
