Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Middle School Visual Arts

Responsibilities

• Teach Grades 5-8 middle school visual arts, including ceramics
• Design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based lessons that prioritize student expression and thinking
• Support students in mastering various media, techniques, and analyzing visual works
• Create opportunities for studio critiques, discussion, and collaboration
• Provide feedback to help students grow in technical skill and artistic reasoning
• Serve as a teacher in the Quest program and a Grade 7 advisor
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and the K-12 Visual Arts Department
• Communicate regularly with families to support student growth

Requirements

• Full-time classroom teaching experience
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills
• Ability to teach middle school children joyfully

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching middle school in a standards-based learning environment (SBL)
• Master’s degree in visual arts
• Certification in secondary visual arts education
