About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach Grades 5-8 middle school visual arts, including ceramics
- Design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based lessons that prioritize student expression and thinking
- Support students in mastering various media, techniques, and analyzing visual works
- Create opportunities for studio critiques, discussion, and collaboration
- Provide feedback to help students grow in technical skill and artistic reasoning
- Serve as a teacher in the Quest program and a Grade 7 advisor
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and the K-12 Visual Arts Department
- Communicate regularly with families to support student growth
Requirements
- Full-time classroom teaching experience
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
- Ability to teach middle school children joyfully
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching middle school in a standards-based learning environment (SBL)
- Master’s degree in visual arts
- Certification in secondary visual arts education
