Logistics Manager

Responsibilities

• Design, set up, and execute all logistics flows for Japan, including inbound imports, domestic distribution, and returns
• Manage customs clearance activities, HS classification, documentation, and communication with Japanese customs and brokers
• Source, negotiate, and manage freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and last-mile carriers
• Establish warehousing solutions, SOPs, inventory controls, and reporting processes
• Coordinate shipments with global factories, suppliers, and distribution centers
• Manage returns, reverse logistics, and inventory movements across B2B, B2C, and eCommerce channels
• Build logistics processes and templates from scratch to scale with volume
• Track and improve KPIs related to cost, service level, and lead time

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on logistics and supply chain experience in Japan
• Deep knowledge of Japan import/export regulations and customs clearance
• Proven experience personally executing logistics operations in a greenfield or startup environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related discipline
• Strong working knowledge of 3PL systems and Excel-based reporting
• Fluent or business-level Japanese and English
• Ability to work onsite in Tokyo 5 days per week
