Locum Consultant in Oncology

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist oncology care for patients with lung and CNS cancers
• Deliver outpatient clinics, treatment planning, and ongoing patient management
• Participate in relevant multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and cancer pathways
• Develop and implement personalised treatment plans in line with national and local guidelines
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across oncology and wider cancer services
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Support and supervise junior medical staff and contribute to educational activities
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with NHS, GMC, and Trust standards
• Undertake Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) including appraisal and revalidation

Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Clinical Oncology or eligibility for specialist registration
• FRCR (Clinical Oncology) or equivalent recognised qualification
• Experience in the management of lung and/or CNS cancers at consultant level
• Experience participating in multidisciplinary cancer services and MDT meetings
• Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
• Evidence of involvement in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
• Eligibility to work in the UK
