About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and install all locks, panic hardware, door closers, and related hardware
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive key inventory system and computer database
- Organize and manage campus keying systems to ensure high levels of security
- Create and maintain floor plans identifying doors and hardware across campus buildings
- Perform various semi-skilled and skilled building repair and construction tasks
- Issue keys to Department Heads as approved by the Director of Facilities
- Stay current on industry trends and new types of locking mechanisms
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant vocational training
- 3 to 5 years of experience in locksmithing and building trades
- Proficiency in locksmithing skills and various locking mechanisms
- Strong skills in general building trades including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
- Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools
- Valid driver's license with a clean record
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
- Ability to participate in a rotating on-call program and respond to emergencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification as a locksmith
