Loan Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage Parent PLUS and private education loan processes, including advising students and families on loan selection and eligibility.
• Process external student loan applications, assist with filing, and determine loan eligibility and amounts within program parameters.
• Authorize the disbursement of federal loan funds and reconcile disbursement records.
• Manage financial aid processes for summer sessions and teacher intern programs, including credit verification.
• Coordinate financial aid application processes for both prospective and upper-class students.
• Create electronic communication campaigns to support federal student aid eligibility requirements, such as entrance and exit counseling.
• Maintain effective working relationships with outside lenders, guarantee agencies, and scholarship organizations.
• Ensure student accounts are resolved prior to the beginning of each semester.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of office experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with students and parents.
• Ability to handle confidential information ethically and manage detailed tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in student financial aid or student accounts receivable.
• Knowledge of statutes and regulations related to student financial aid.
