Load & Stress Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid hand calculations for initial component sizing and quick verification
• Create, validate, and maintain Finite Element (FE) models for both static and dynamic calculations
• Provide continuous, data-driven feedback to the mechanical design team to optimize structural components and systems
• Guide engineering and production decisions regarding non-conformities using rapid analytical troubleshooting
• Support ground and flight test activities, including hands-on, real-time support when required

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience performing classical hand calculations for structural sizing
• Proficiency with HyperMesh and OptiStruct for building and running static and dynamic FE simulations
• Strong understanding of flight loads, load derivation, and global-to-local load cascading approaches
• Ability to deliver quick, reliable analyses under tight timelines to support production or test anomalies
• Capability to be flexible and creative when delivering structural assessments with limited data
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the defence sector

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ground test rigs, test setup, and execution
• Familiarity with ground and flight test instrumentation such as strain gauges and accelerometers
• Working knowledge of STANAG standards and regulations related to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
• Experience with flight vibrations and ground vibration tests (GVTs)
