About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage case files continually from inception through mediation, arbitration, trial, or settlement
- Prepare subpoenas for depositions and document productions
- Draft initial discovery documents, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions
- Prepare draft responses to discovery, including document productions and privilege logs
- Research, vet, and engage with subject matter experts
- Monitor deadlines for responses and ensure timeliness
- Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, fact/medical chronologies, and agreements
- Conduct fact investigations, including social media research
- Execute trial preparation, including managing trial notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, and trial subpoenas
- Attend trials as necessary to support attorneys
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of general civil litigation experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Experience with LexisNexis and Pacer
- Experience with Relativity and iManage
- Proven experience with trial preparation and participation
- Strong written communication skills with an ability to edit for spelling and grammar
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working for or with government entities
- Experience with exhibit manipulation software such as Sanction, Trial Director, or TrialPad
