Litigation & Employment Counsel

Responsibilities

• Handle litigation and pre-litigation matters in state and federal courts, specifically regarding worker classification and employment claims
• Work with Trust and Safety, insurance brokers, and carriers to conduct investigations into employment matters and policy violations
• Create scalable legal processes and identify opportunities for automation
• Leverage AI tools to increase efficiency and improve work product
• Manage relationships with outside counsel, including strategy, budgets, and discovery
• Partner with HR to provide expertise on wage and hour, recruiting, training, and disability accommodations
• Develop and deliver training for business teams on employment law and risk mitigation

Requirements

• JD and California bar admission in good standing (or NY/IL bar with CA Registered In-House Counsel status)
• 5+ years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house
• Experience in technology, gig economy, or marketplace industries preferred
• Ability to distill complex legal risks into actionable guidance
• Strong communication and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior in-house counsel experience
• Experience with workers' compensation and insurance coverage
• Proficiency with AI-assisted legal research and drafting tools
