About the role
Responsibilities
- Own and manage Discord's individual consumer claims docket end-to-end, including consumer arbitrations, state attorney general complaints, and DSA complaints
- Partner with litigation teammates on high-stakes matters, including regulatory inquiries and putative class actions
- Take ownership of discovery workstreams, including managing document review, custodian identification, and witness preparation
- Manage trademark, copyright, and other IP litigation matters, including DMCA-related disputes
- Contribute to efforts regarding regulatory and enforcement focus, such as minor safety and content moderation
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 7+ years of combined experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Meaningful exposure to technology or consumer-facing platforms
- Hands-on experience with the full eDiscovery lifecycle
- Hands-on litigation experience in consumer litigation and global IP matters
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Discord and the video game or online communication industry
- In-house experience at a consumer-facing technology platform
- Experience with regulatory, platform safety, privacy, or internet platform liability (including CDA 230)
- Experience managing consumer arbitration portfolios at scale
- Familiarity with patent litigation
