About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing literacy training support and instructional coaching to school administrators and coaches as part of the IDOE Literacy Cadre.
  • Develop and maintain supportive relationships with school leadership, instructional coaches, and faculty.
  • Review and analyze school data to serve as a thinking partner for continuous improvement in early literacy.
  • Plan and lead professional development sessions responsive to specific school-level needs.
  • Conduct regular onsite school visits to review curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
  • Support robust instructional coaching cycles, including data-driven outcomes and progress monitoring.
  • Maintain regular contact with coaches through virtual and in-person interactions.
  • Provide monthly feedback and data reporting to the CELL and IDOE teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of elementary teaching experience.
  • Literacy endorsement or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience as a literacy specialist, instructional coach, or school administrator.
  • Proven experience in data-driven instructional coaching and adult learning professional development.
  • Clean or acceptable driving record for travel to participating schools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of the K-12 educational system and evidence-aligned literacy practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
