Linux Engineer

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the platform powering production trading systems
• Debug kernel performance and resolve production issues in real time
• Develop management tools and deployment automation
• Build scalable configuration management and monitoring solutions
• Collaborate with trading, technology, and operations teams on firm-wide systems
• Perform root-cause analyses and integrate long-term fixes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Experience managing and troubleshooting Linux systems
• Exposure to Linux through software development or IT operations
• Interest in systems programming and administration
• Willingness to learn OCaml (no prior experience required)
• Proficiency with Unix command line and basic shell scripting
• Basic understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting
• Comfort with fundamental programming concepts
• Strong programming skills in any language
• Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with Linux systems programming concepts (e.g., C, sockets, virtual memory)
• Familiarity with advanced troubleshooting tools (e.g., gdb, perf, DTrace, eBPF, SystemTap)
• Knowledge or interest in modern computer architecture (e.g., PCIe, NVMe, NUMA)
