Linguist (FARSI) and Iranian Cultural Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on Iranian religious groups, ethnic groups, political landscape, and social media to counter extremist activities.
• Translate, interpret, and analyze oral and written materials, including classified reports, briefings, and conversations.
• Provide cultural advisement and media analysis to ensure actionable data is processed accurately.
• Support key leader engagement events within the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
• Conduct research in native languages to produce comprehensive, command-level information papers.
• Participate in USCENTCOM, Interagency, and Coalition working groups as an operational cultural advisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Studies, Anthropology, Communication, or a related field (or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
• 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years supporting U.S. Armed Forces or government agencies.
• Proficiency in Farsi (minimum 5/5/5 scores) and English (minimum 4/4/4 scores).
• U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI eligibility.
• Ability to deploy to Camp Xiphos, Jordan, for an unaccompanied one-year assignment.
• Valid U.S. Passport with at least one year of remaining validity.
• Expertise in Iranian culture, social media, and the current political/regime landscape.

Preferred Qualifications

• Native Iranian heritage with recent residence or travel in Iran.
• Experience working with Information Operations or MISO units in the Middle East/SWA Area of Operations.
• Proficiency in additional languages such as Dari, Pashto, or Arabic at similar levels.
