Lineboat Deckhand

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping and upkeep of the vessel, including washing, chipping, painting, and cleaning
• Execute tow work, including building rigging and tow for the vessel
• Handle locking duties, including preparing barges and rigging to transit locks
• Assist engineers with maintenance tasks as required
• Support the captain and mate with vessel reports in compliance with environmental, safety, and USCG regulations
• Report all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely manner

Requirements

• Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card required
• Ability to follow direction and execute tasks under supervision
• Sufficient reading and writing skills to complete various documents
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including a 28 days on and 28 days off rotation
• Ability to work in all climates and various environments, including heights and confined spaces
• Physical stamina for frequent heavy lifting, standing for prolonged periods, kneeling, bending, and climbing
• Proven history of safe work behavior

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in inland waterway decking
