Line Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform complex construction and maintenance work on energized conductors, structures, and equipment under directive supervision
• Execute polyphase transformer installations, phasing, and phase rotation on polyphase circuits
• Manage distribution and transmission switching, sectionalizing, and tracing/clearing grounds and opens on series circuits
• Install instrument transformers and manage the connection or disconnection of electric and gas meters and services
• Direct the work of assisting Linemen or Groundmen
• Operate transportation equipment and perform related technical tasks as directed

Requirements

• At least three years of experience as a Second-Class Lineman or equivalent
• Strong working knowledge of electrical fundamentals related to transmission and distribution construction
• Familiarity with company safety rules, resuscitation methods, and practical First Aid
• Ability to pass a physical examination, including color perception and sensory requirements
• Physical strength and endurance for arduous labor in all outdoor weather conditions
• Valid automobile operator's license
• Willingness to work irregular or extra hours and under unusual working conditions
