Lighting Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement all theatrical lighting elements for Hartt School productions, concerts, and University special events.
• Collaborate with Lighting Designers and Directors to realize artistic concepts and assist with basic light plot designs.
• Program and operate computerized lighting consoles (ETC or similar) for rehearsals and performances.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot theatrical lighting equipment, including conventional and intelligent fixtures and dimming systems.
• Supervise and mentor students in lighting techniques, equipment use, and safe practices.
• Lead and train lighting crews during hang, focus, show runs, and strike calls.
• Maintain accurate inventory of lighting equipment and expendables and perform necessary repairs.
• Ensure all lighting operations comply with electrical safety standards and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Proficiency in theatrical lighting systems and computerized lighting consoles (ETC or similar).
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory and safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and technical drawings.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and faculty.
• Physical ability to perform tasks in a production environment, including climbing ladders, working on elevated surfaces, and lifting 51 lbs or more.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
