Lifetime & Reliability Test and Characterization Engineer

Responsibilities

• Implement, develop, and operate component head and media testing for HDD and HAMR technology.
• Utilize tribometers and electrical test systems to characterize mechanical, electrical, and magnetic performance.
• Perform basic scripting and setup of testers to enable required testing and data output.
• Coach and direct a team of technicians and operators within a 24/7 operating model.
• Analyze data using statistical software and perform signal analysis to create technical reports.
• Collaborate with onsite metrology and materials characterization labs to influence design decisions.
• Lead tester statistical process control and preventative maintenance activities per IMS/ISO standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Tribology Engineering, or Physics.
• Experience in the HDD business, R&D, or academic research related to testing and characterization.
• Hands-on experience with the operation of tribometers, electrical test systems, and tribology-related testers.
• Proficiency in English (spoken, reading, and writing).
• Strong skills in MS Office and general computer literacy.
• Ability to manage tests, projects, and timelines effectively.
