Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety of all patrons at the Chris Kjeldsen Memorial Pool
• Enforce facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Perform water rescues and administer first aid as required
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve patron complaints
• Conduct visual inspections of the facility to detect and prevent hazards
• Maintain facility grounds, equipment, and a clean work environment
• Complete all required records and reports in a timely manner
• Remain at assigned posts until properly relieved

Requirements

• At least 15 years of age
• Current Lifeguard Training certification
• Current First Aid certification
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional certification
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Good physical health and ability to stand for long periods
• Willingness to work outdoors and during odd hours, nights, or weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
• Prior experience in lifeguarding or as an aquatics athlete
• Experience working with diverse backgrounds and cultures
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion
