Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of participants to ensure safety and prevent accidents
• Perform water rescues and administer CPR, AED, and first aid as required
• Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
• Inspect pool equipment and the surrounding area to ensure everything is in good condition
• Complete water testing and adjust pool chemicals to maintain safety standards
• Prepare and maintain necessary activity reports and administrative paperwork
• Support other Village programs, such as Child Care or Adult Day Programs, when the pool is not in use
• Perform various maintenance duties to keep the facility clean and safe

Requirements

• Completed Secondary School diploma
• Current and valid National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certification
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
• Minimum of six months of prior experience working as a lifeguard
• Ability to pass a vulnerable sector background check
• Ability to lift or move a person out of the water
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and split shifts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with seniors, children, or individuals with special needs
• Knowledge of water chemistry, filtration, and recreation facility maintenance
• Fluent French verbal and written communication skills
