Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of swimmers in the pool and on the pool deck to identify potential safety hazards
• Respond quickly and logically to emergencies using established rescue protocols, including first aid and CPR
• Enforce all Gannon University and Recreation and Wellness Center policies and procedures
• Monitor and report pool chemical levels (chlorine and pH) in the Aquatic binder
• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as using the pool vacuum and mopping the deck
• Maintain accurate logs, including headcount reports and chemical logs
• Attend all mandatory in-service and staff training sessions

Requirements

• Enrolled full-time student at Gannon University
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Current Lifeguarding certification, including CPR/AED
• Ability to swim 300 yards without stopping
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the pool deck for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous lifeguarding experience
