Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor activities in the water, pool decks, and ancillary areas to ensure the safety of students and staff
• Conduct student swim tests throughout the program
• Implement and enforce school policies, pool regulations, and safety rules
• React to and handle swimmer rescues and medical emergencies using First Aid, CPR, and AED
• Inspect and maintain swimming and pool equipment for functionality
• Maintain accurate logs and records of activities
• Participate in required training sessions, safety drills, and emergency procedure rehearsals

Requirements

• Must be age 21 or older
• Minimum of six months of Lifeguard experience at facilities in California
• Up-to-date Lifeguard Certification
• Ability to perform water rescues and respond to medical emergencies
• Ability to lift 150 pounds or heavier weights with assistance or proper equipment
• 20/20 corrected vision and 20/40 uncorrected vision

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a residential or educational setting
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Strong communication skills to explain rules and rationale to students
• A motivated and flexible team player mindset
