Life Insurance/Group Insurance Claims Specialist

Responsibilities

• Conduct strategic reviews of Income Protection (IP) and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims to identify appropriate pathways for timely outcomes.
• Review and interpret medical, financial, vocational, and employment evidence to support claim decisions.
• Identify key claim issues, evidentiary requirements, and potential barriers to claim progression.
• Develop clear, evidence-based recommendations to support claim assessment and advancement.
• Apply policy terms, industry standards, legislation, and procedural requirements accurately.
• Liaise with claimants, employers, medical practitioners, and other stakeholders to facilitate claim progression.
• Prepare accurate file notes, assessment summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Escalate complex or disputed matters and contribute to technical peer review processes.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in Group Insurance and/or Life Insurance from an insurer perspective.
• Technical proficiency in Income Protection (IP) and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) assessment and decision-making.
• Proven experience reviewing claims and interpreting complex medical and financial evidence.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for articulating findings and recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and a customer-centric mindset.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, and regulated environment.
