About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead person-centered programs to enhance emotional, social, and recreational well-being for residents
- Facilitate programs that encourage social interaction and reduce isolation for those with dementia
- Provide one-on-one engagement for residents unable to participate in group activities
- Support psychosocial needs of residents and families during times of crisis
- Complete required documentation including attendance records, care plans, and activity notes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote quality outcomes and meaningful programming
- Mentor student interns and volunteers
Requirements
- Two years of experience working with older adults in group or long-term care settings
- Excellent organizational, communication, and group facilitation skills
- Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness in program development
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and safely transport residents in wheelchairs
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, psychology, social work, or related field preferred
