About the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead person-centered programs to enhance emotional, social, and recreational well-being for residents
  • Facilitate programs that encourage social interaction and reduce isolation for those with dementia
  • Provide one-on-one engagement for residents unable to participate in group activities
  • Support psychosocial needs of residents and families during times of crisis
  • Complete required documentation including attendance records, care plans, and activity notes
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote quality outcomes and meaningful programming
  • Mentor student interns and volunteers

Requirements

  • Two years of experience working with older adults in group or long-term care settings
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and safely transport residents in wheelchairs
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, and reach for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, psychology, social work, healthcare, or recreation administration
