Licensing and Legal Operations Associate

Responsibilities

• Own and manage Kikoff's state licensing portfolio, including active licenses, pending applications, and renewal calendars for money transmission and consumer lending.
• Prepare, submit, and track license applications and renewals through NMLS and directly with state regulators.
• Maintain accurate license records, surety bonds, registered agent information, and statutory documents across all jurisdictions.
• Monitor state-level legislative and regulatory changes and proactively flag material developments to leadership.
• Manage the contract lifecycle for bank partnerships, commercial agreements, and vendor contracts, including intake, routing, and execution.
• Maintain and improve the contract management system to ensure all agreements are accurately tracked and version-controlled.
• Deploy and utilize AI tools (such as Claude) to track contract obligations, renewal windows, and improve legal team efficiency.
• Support due diligence processes for new partnerships by organizing document requests and managing data rooms.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in state licensing, legal operations, or regulatory compliance within financial services or FinTech.
• Hands-on NMLS experience, including direct responsibility for applications, renewals, and MU filings.
• Familiarity with consumer lending, money transmission, or similar state-level licensing regimes.
• Experience managing contract lifecycle functions or working with CLM tools.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing deadlines.
• High attention to detail and comfort working in a document-intensive, regulated environment.
• Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity or operational workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience at a FinTech operating under a bank partnership or BaaS model.
• Exposure to state examinations or regulatory inquiries.
• Experience with CLM platforms such as Evisort, Ironclad, or Juro.
• Experience with productivity tools like Jira and Monday.com.
• Paralegal certification or an equivalent legal operations background.
• Working knowledge of federal consumer lending regulations (TILA, ECOA, FCRA).
