Licensed Vocational Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing services within the scope of a Licensed Vocational Nurse license to support patient intake, screening, and routine/urgent care
• Support initial medical screening, including tuberculosis screening, vital signs, and health history collection
• Administer prescribed medications and support medication continuity
• Perform minor procedures and point-of-care testing such as blood glucose monitoring and urinalysis
• Support emergency medical response, including BLS, CPR, and AED use
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic health record
• Follow infectious disease prevention, standard precautions, and quarantine requirements
• Coordinate with healthcare providers, behavioral health, and pharmacy staff to support continuity of care

Requirements

• Unrestricted and current LVN/LPN license issued by the State of Texas (or ability to obtain one)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Graduate from an approved Vocational or Practical Nurse program
• Ability to pass a medical examination and a thorough background investigation
• U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 30+ pounds and responding to emergencies in austere environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Correctional Health Professional or Certified Corrections Nurse credential
• Proficiency in Spanish
