Licensed Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to hospitalized patients in the Medical Surgical Unit
• Perform treatments including fluid and drug administration, wound care, and vital monitoring
• Operate syringe pumps, fluid pumps, dopplers, blood pressure monitors, and point-of-care lab equipment
• Identify and promptly communicate concerning changes in patient status
• Maintain and stock inventory
• Lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds

Requirements

• New York State Veterinary Technician license or permit
• Animal handling experience
• Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work successfully both alone and as part of a team
• Composure in stressful and emergency situations
• Flexibility to accommodate shift work in a 24/7 hospital
