Licensed Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia support for all AMC services, including both low-risk routine and high-risk critical/emergent cases
• Support anesthesiologists with drug and technique plans, troubleshooting, and mitigating anesthesia
• Manage sedation and anesthesia for special needs such as MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and minimally invasive surgery
• Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain surgical and anesthetic equipment
• Mentor and train LVTs, assistants, interns, and residents
• Participate in an overnight anesthesia on-call rotation
• Identify cardiopulmonary arrests and perform patient resuscitation
• Complete technical procedures and treatments in strict adherence to hospital protocols

Requirements

• New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit
• Minimum one year of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited school
• Experience in veterinary anesthesia, surgery, emergency, or critical care
• Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced anesthesia skills
• Previous experience in a specialty or referral hospital
