About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia support for all AMC services, including both low-risk routine and high-risk critical/emergent cases
- Support anesthesiologists with drug and technique plans, troubleshooting, and mitigating anesthesia
- Manage sedation and anesthesia for special needs such as MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and minimally invasive surgery
- Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain surgical and anesthetic equipment
- Mentor and train LVTs, assistants, interns, and residents
- Participate in an overnight anesthesia on-call rotation
- Identify cardiopulmonary arrests and perform patient resuscitation
- Complete technical procedures and treatments in strict adherence to hospital protocols
Requirements
- New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit
- Minimum one year of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited school
- Experience in veterinary anesthesia, surgery, emergency, or critical care
- Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced anesthesia skills
- Previous experience in a specialty or referral hospital
