About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient, resident, and family strengths and limitations, including physiological, psychological, and spiritual needs
  • Provide a supportive environment and promote involvement in healthcare decisions
  • Contribute to individualized care plans and participate in multidisciplinary care planning meetings
  • Deliver nursing care according to established policies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients/residents
  • Document and update all relevant care and procedure information to ensure safety
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment such as mechanical lifts and scales
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, education sessions, and team conferences

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized practical nursing program
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BCCNM
  • One year of recent, related gerontological nursing experience
  • Current Level 1 First Aid Certificate
  • Competent English speaking and writing skills
  • Ability to work at the full scope of practice, including administering medications
  • Physical ability to carry out all nursing-related duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to deal with others effectively and organize complex care plans
  • Completion of online Praesidium Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
