Licensed Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide technical nursing care to assigned patients within a correctional facility setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Perform treatments and procedures within established guidelines to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Participate in data collection regarding patient status and communicate pertinent information to the Registered Nurse for care planning
• Deliver direct patient care within the scope of practice to implement individualized care plans
• Instruct patients and significant others on health/illness states and discharge preparation
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately

Requirements

• Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of New Jersey
• Current CPR Certification
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation between sites
• Ability to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes
• Physical capacity to lift and rotate patients up to 50 pounds
• Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC)

Preferred Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting
