Licensed Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and perform technical aspects of dialysis procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters and patient conditions on flow sheets and in individual records
• Administer intravenous medications in accordance with physician orders and state nurse practice laws
• Assist in developing and following teaching plans to educate patients and families regarding renal disease, diet, and medications
• Safely operate and perform minor troubleshooting on dialysis-related equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary treatment environment in accordance with bloodborne pathogen control policies
• Respond to emergency situations and initiate basic CPR measures when necessary

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing
• Current and appropriate State licensure (LPN/LVN)
• Valid CPR Certification
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet the requirements of Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical-surgical nursing
• Previous experience in hemodialysis
• Experience in an ICU setting
