About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee SESSL location service desks and assist patrons with entry.
- Answer directional, informational, and front-line reference questions.
- Perform routine circulation transactions, workflow processing, and request fulfillment.
- Execute technical services tasks including journal check-in, binding, and collection maintenance.
- Assign, revise, and train student General Assistants in shelving and shelf reading.
- Provide front-line technology assistance for printing and scanning equipment.
- Monitor stacks, shelving, and perform daily shelf reading.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of relevant experience.
- Strong customer service skills and high attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to work with various software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of colleagues and library users.
- Physical ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Previous experience working in a library setting.
- Knowledge of an integrated library system (ILS).
- Proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and Mac OS.
- Familiarity with searching online databases.
