Library Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide basic library support services, including assisting with information questions
• Offer basic computer user support to library patrons
• Manage circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out
• Process new materials and perform shelving, straightening, and cleaning duties
• Assist with occasional opening and closing of the library

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively
• Demonstrated customer service experience working with diverse populations
• Knowledge of current software applications and general technical aptitude with hardware and software
• Ability to succeed within a small, team-based work group

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education
• Previous experience working in an academic library setting
• Ability to plan, implement, and finalize projects according to specific deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and proper judgment

Benefits

• Competitive hourly wage of $18.15 per hour
• Part-time schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am – 4:00pm
